When meeting the King or a member of the Royal Family, the usual courtesy requires shaking hands.

On presentation to His Majesty the King and in a later conversation, the traditional address is “Your Majesty”.

On presentation to Her Majesty the Queen and in a later conversation, the traditional address is “Your Majesty” or “Madam”.

The conventional address to other members of the Royal Family is:

• His Majesty King Albert : “Your Majesty”.
• Her Majesty Queen Paola : “Your Majesty” or “Madam”.
• Other male members of the Royal Family with the title of Prince : “Your Royal Highness”.
• Other female members of the Royal Family with the title of Princess : “Your Royal Highness” or “Madam”.
