Prince Laurent Foundation

Established in 1995 under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Laurent, the Prince Laurent Foundation’s mission is to help people through their animals.

Its activities are focused on four areas:

  • Veterinary care

In its 6 veterinary dispensaries, the Foundation provides free veterinary care to pets of the underprivileged and refugees. The Foundation believes that all animals deserve quality care regardless of their owner’s means. These people, often isolated, also have a right to the unconditional love and comforting presence of an animal.

  • Education

Since 2012, the Prince Laurent Foundation has been collaborating with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Liège and the University of Ghent. Each year, hundreds of students are trained in our dispensaries under the supervision of a professor.

  • Winter Plan

During the winter months, the Foundation offers support to homeless people accompanied by an animal.

  • Research

The Foundation has been supporting scientific research into animal welfare for a quarter of a century. It is currently funding a PhD (Free University of Brussels) that analyzes and studies the effects of the human-animal relationship on human health.
