Queen Paola Foundation

In December 1992, at the request of Her Royal Highness Princess Paola, a foundation was set up with the aim of raising funds to support organisations working in Belgium to integrate and educate vulnerable and disadvantaged young people (aged 3 to 25).

These include homework schools, shelters, initiatives that focus on integration through sports, art, digital media, nature or culture, and learning farms.

Its Action

The Foundation’s strategy rests on three pillars:

  • Support
The Foundation plays a role as a social incubator by funding and mentoring promising projects that have little or no access to other sources of funding.
  • Acknowledge
She highlights notable initiatives by associations through the Queen Paola Foundation awards and through site visits. The aim is to spread inspiring practices across the country.
  • Share
The Foundation creates meeting and exchange opportunities for field officers through an annual Forum and thematic workshops.

Its Impact

Since its creation, the Queen Paola Foundation has supported more than 1,350 social projects and highlighted more than 500 field officers through its award ceremonies, directly impacting more than 300,000 young people.

The Queen Paola Foundation operates autonomously and has a small permanent team of staff supplemented by volunteers.
