At the hospital level, multidisciplinary teamwork - the surgeon, the oncologist, the radiologist, as well as the psychologist and others - has contributed considerably to the development of modern practices. The collaboration between these various disciplines undeniably favors a personalized treatment.

As to the research, international team work has become primordial for facilitating and accelerating therapeutic discoveries. This type of collaboration avoids the duplication of efforts and the wasting of human and financial resources. Moreover, it facilitates the rapid sharing of the results to the benefit of the patients.

In this context I would like to stress the ambitious vision of the founders of Breast International Group. Twenty years ago a plan was developed to build an international network of thousands of scientists and hospitals, all dedicated to making the struggle against breast cancer more targeted and more efficient.

Meanwhile, this vision has become reality.

Present in fifty countries, on all the continents, today BIG is literally the biggest global network of academic research groups, committed to find the best treatment from this cancer.

Thank you very much.
